Hey everybody, it’s Andy, and BOY HAVE I GOT SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YOU! (If you live in Memphis.)

Katrina and I have a great deal of shows coming up, and unfortunately for Katrina (who is cursed to a career in my shadow), many of them involve us BOTH! Here’s a short list of four upcoming gigs where you can catch us:

..Saturday, May 22nd – It’s Wiseguys Improv’s Storytellers Unplugged show! The rest of the Wiseguys (their names escape me) and I will be doing improv based on impromptu monologues done by special guests.. and it just so happens, Katrina is one of our special guest monologists this month! So don’t miss us acting out stories from her no-doubt depressing life. More info and tickets available at wiseguysimprov.com
..Thursday, May 27 – It’s MOSTLY COMEDY PRESENTS! Don’t miss our second live show, which promises to be a mix of stand-up, games, and, of course, Katrina and me fucking around. Stand-up performances by Richard Jones, the elusive Sting Mattress, and Michael Danziger. More info at Brown Paper Tickets.
..Tuesday, June 1 – Funniest Person in Memphis FINALS! As reigning champion, I get to emcee a night of the twenty funniest people in town doing their best five minutes.. and, you guessed it, Katrina is one of those vying for my crown. As last year’s second runner-up, she’s a real contender, so come out to support her bid for the title; coming to this show is the best way to support your local comedy scene. More info at bigfunnyproductions.com
..Thursday, June 3 – I’ll be emceeing a night of comedy and music, featuring one of my heroes, Spero of notorious rap trio Northern State. Spero will be debuting her new project, and she’s asked me to emcee the evening! I’ll be bringing along guests to do some stand-up, such as, you guessed it, Katrina, as well as Josh McLane, whose incredible band Oracle & The Mountain will be headlining the evening! (We’ll also be recording a podcast eppy with Spero!) More info available at HiToneMemphis.com

So there you have it, folks. No excuse for Memphians not to come see us in the next couple weeks.. unless you hate us.

If you’re not in Memphis and wanna see us live.. let us know!

Mostly Driving

That is, that is what this job is mostly about.

I’m fresh back from Charleston, IL, where I featured for the indescribable TR Degraw and wanted to share a little photo:

Drunk and sparkly

Natural Selection

This is the balance to all the crap that every comic has to go through.
On the five hour drive to the show I was lured off track by a sign for a place called “BOOMTOWN” where I bought a bagfull of things that, you know, boom.
After the show, and perhaps a drink or two, we all ended up at local guy Dan Tessitore’s house for a bonfire. He’s not only the local booker/mastermind/champion of the cause, but has been in stand up for years. Check him out. (come on, we all have youtube on our bookmarks)
Combine explosives and alcohol for every southern girl’s favorite game:
Natural Selection.
However, soon all the spinning and popping and jumping things were gone. By this time it had gotten late, and I had spent all night with total strangers having talking, listening, and coughing. (The coughing began after the furniture went into the fire.) (And the pot.)
This picture was taken toward the end. Everyone took a sparkler. No one waffled or claimed “adulthood”. Dan grabbed a picture, and then someone yelled “sparkler tag!”.
I felt so welcome.

About twenty minutes later I burped beer into my nose and decided to retire.
Performing is OBVIOUSLY the best part. Nothing tops that. This is the second best part: burning shit.
